After breakfast, your guide will meet you at 8:30 for a full-day walking tour through Istanbul Old City. The day begins at the magnificent Hagia Sophia, where vast domes, ancient details, and centuries of layered history create one of the most powerful first impressions in Turkey.

Continue to the elegant Blue Mosque, admired for its graceful architecture and peaceful interior, before stepping into the historic Hippodrome, where your guide brings the city’s Roman and Byzantine past to life. After lunch at a traditional Turkish restaurant, explore Topkapi Palace, the former residence of Ottoman sultans, filled with imperial courtyards, royal stories, and memorable city views.

Your final stop is the legendary Grand Bazaar, one of the world’s largest and most atmospheric covered markets. Its colorful shops, local craftsmanship, and lively energy provide a vibrant ending before returning to your hotel for a relaxed evening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 5 days enough for Istanbul, Ephesus, and Pamukkale?

Yes, 5 days is enough for a focused Istanbul Ephesus Pamukkale tour when flights and transfers are arranged efficiently. The itinerary includes a full Istanbul Old City tour, a guided Ephesus tour after the Istanbul to Izmir flight, and a Pamukkale tour before flying back to Istanbul. It is active, but it covers the key highlights in a practical route.

Who is this 5 Days Istanbul Ephesus Pamukkale Tour best suited for?

This tour is best suited for travelers who want a short but historically rich Turkey itinerary without visiting Cappadocia. It combines Istanbul’s Old City, the ancient Roman city of Ephesus, the House of Virgin Mary, Hierapolis, and Pamukkale’s white travertines. It works especially well for first-time visitors who prefer culture, archaeology, thermal landscapes, and organized domestic travel.

How early does the Ephesus tour day start?

The Ephesus day starts very early, with hotel pick-up in Istanbul at 5:00 AM for the airport transfer and one-hour flight to Izmir. This early start allows enough time to visit Ephesus, the House of Virgin Mary, Temple of Artemis, and IsaBey Mosque before continuing to your hotel in Kusadasi or Selcuk.

What will I see during the Istanbul Old City tour?

The Istanbul walking tour includes Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar. This gives travelers a strong introduction to the city’s Byzantine, Roman, and Ottoman heritage in one guided day. Since it is a walking tour, comfortable shoes are important, and modest clothing is recommended for mosque visits.

What makes the Ephesus tour a major highlight?

Ephesus is one of the best-preserved ancient cities in Turkey, and this itinerary covers its most impressive landmarks. You enter through Magnesia Gate and walk downhill past the Odeon, Celsus Library, Temple of Hadrian, Trajan Fountain, and Great Theater. The route helps travelers understand the scale, design, and daily life of a major Roman city.

Does the tour include the House of Virgin Mary and Temple of Artemis?

Yes. After visiting Ephesus, the itinerary continues to the House of Virgin Mary, followed by lunch, the Temple of Artemis, and IsaBey Mosque. These stops make the Ephesus tour more complete by combining Roman history, religious heritage, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and Selcuk’s later architectural history.

How long is the drive from Kusadasi to Pamukkale?

The itinerary notes that the drive from Kusadasi to Pamukkale takes approximately three hours. Your guide shares background during the journey, and lunch is arranged before the Hierapolis and Pamukkale visit. After the tour, you transfer to the airport for the one-hour flight back to Istanbul, followed by hotel transfer.

What should I know before walking on the Pamukkale travertines?

Guests must be able to walk about 0.5 miles barefoot over the Pamukkale travertines. Shoes are not worn on the white terraces to help protect the natural surface. The mineral ground can be wet, bright, and uneven in places, so walk carefully and bring a small bag for your shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and personal items.

Can I swim or use the thermal pools in Pamukkale?

The itinerary mentions that guests may dip their feet in the natural hot springs or enjoy free time at the man-made thermal baths. If you plan to use the thermal facilities, bring a comfortable swimsuit and towel. Exact access, time available, and any extra fees may depend on the selected package and site conditions.

What meals are included in this tour package?

The itinerary includes breakfast and lunch on the Istanbul Old City tour day, lunch during the Ephesus tour, lunch during the Pamukkale tour, and breakfast on the final departure day. Dinners are not specified, giving travelers flexibility to choose local restaurants in Istanbul and Kusadasi or Selcuk during their free evenings.

Can extra sightseeing be added on the final day in Istanbul?

Yes. If your departure flight is later in the day, a half-day or full-day Istanbul tour can usually be arranged upon request. This is useful for travelers who want to add a Bosphorus cruise, Dolmabahce Palace, local neighborhoods, shopping, or another Istanbul experience before the Istanbul Ephesus Pamukkale tour ends.

I just spent 3 days at istanbul and 2 days in Kusadasi at the recommendation of Tours Flame and loved it! I toured Ephesus and Pamukkale and spent a day relaxing on the beach. Kusadasi was so beautiful and it wasn’t too crowded either. It was a nice break from Istanbul and I so wanted to see Ephesus and Pamukkale. Tours Flame arranged everything for me. Everything was so easy and so perfect!
